Social Work Month 2024 was about #EmpoweringSocialWorkers. As part of such efforts, the Coalition for Social Work and Health (CSWH) traveled to Washington, D.C. to advance policy priorities and build relationships at the federal level.

The Coalition for Social Work and Health is celebrating Social Work Month 2024! This March, the theme is “Empowering Social Workers” to highlight how the nation can benefit from a robust and supported workforce. Learn what you can do to raise awareness about the value of social work in healthcare settings.

Representative Danny Davis (D-IL) welcomed social workers, dedicated advocates, and community members of the Chicago area to a press conference Sankofa House on July 24th to celebrate the introduction of his new bill with Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA), the Integrating Social Workers Across Health Care Settings Act, H.R. 4638.

The Hill Reporter published an op-ed describing the importance of social workers within health care systems and services.

The Journal of the American Medical Association published an article from authors at Rush University and George Washington University outlining financial barriers to implementing greater integration of health and social care.

In partnership with the University of Michigan School of Social Work, NASW developed a white paper about social work policy practice, including macro social work field placements.

Coffee & Science hosted a podcast discussion on the barriers and benefits of tele-social care, and the impact of the pandemic on these practices.

The National Association of Social Workers published its 2021 Blueprint of Federal Social Policy Priorities outlining urgently needed policy solutions in 21 issue areas.

Based on results of a NASEM Consensus Study, this article from the American Journal of Public Health describes the importance of investing in prevention and health promotion while integrating the health and social service sectors.

Published via NASW, this op-ed emphasized the value of social work in the implementation of the NASEM report goals. 

HealthCetera hosted a discussion on the recently released National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine report titled, Integrating Social Care into the Delivery of Health Care.

The Council on Social Work Education, Society for Social Work and Research, Center for Health and Social Care Integration, and Boston University Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health held a congressional briefing on Capitol Hill titled, “Integrating Social Determinants of Health Into Future Health Care Policy.”
